Meet the people who ensure that all action, decisions, and communications are carried out in a way that honours the memory of their relatives, respects traditional knowledge and ceremonies, and prioritizes the safety of families and communities.

Delores Daniels

Delores Daniels is a member of Peguis First Nation and has 3 sons, 1 daughter, and 4 grand children. She grew up in Gordon’s First Nation, Saskatchewan where she attended residential school and lived with her grandparents. She moved to Winnipeg as a child and lived here since then.

Delores has been employed as Director of Human Resources with the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre Inc. since 2003. Delores is the mother of Serena McKay who tragically lost her life on April 23, 2017. Serena’s birthday is September 30th.

Delores has been involved with the MMIWG Implementation Committee, now called Giganawenimaanaanig since 2022 and has participated on the Red Dress Alert Bundle Carriers sub-committee since December 2024. Delores has been the voice of her daughter and has advocated against violence on behalf of MMIWG2S+ since losing her daughter, including initiating a campaign to address online bullying.
