Melinda Wood is from Bunibonibee Cree Nation (Oxford House, Manitoba) raised in the community and lived there most of her life working as a Home-School Liaison for the local Elementary School. She and her husband raised three sons, and one daughter. Their daughter was tragically taken away from them in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has six beautiful grandchildren and one adorable great-grandson.
